Roth vs. traditional IRA
If you already contribute to an IRA, then you're taking an important step toward building the financial resources you need for retirement. If you don't have an IRA, then you might want to consider opening one. But which one? Your two main choices are a "traditional" IRA and a Roth IRA. These IRAs share some common characteristics. First, you can fund either one with virtually any type of investment you choose - stocks, bonds, CDs, etc. And second, you can contribute up to $4,000 to either IRA, or $5,000 if you're 50 or over. (However, you cannot contribute to a Roth IRA if your modified adjusted gross income exceeds $160,000, if you're married and file jointly, or $110,000, if you're single.) Beyond these similarities, though, there are some important differences in the two IRAs.
Non-traditional security : A renewed challenge for Bangladesh and ...
Rethinking of security has become necessary because of gradual but fundamental changes in the international system. Some of the prime factors which have necessitated a new thinking on the concept and scope of security studies are the demise of cold war which has led to global interdependent world; change in nature of warfare as now there is struggle for techno-economic, political and cultural space rather than pure conventional military means; states are more than ever dependent on International Society and Institutions. In the 1980's two independent commissions contributing to the changing thinking on development and security: the first was the Independent Commission on International Development Issues headed by Willy Brandt. The commission not only focused on traditional security issues like peace and war, but also issues like how to overcome world hunger, mass misery and alarming disparities between the living conditions of rich and poor".
Time bomb facing pensioners
Statistics show that 1% of all people retire wealthy, 3% can afford to retire, 4% need to keep working, and most of the rest are on social assistance. There was a time when you owned your home by retirement, and could look forward to a few years of relaxation and playing with grandchildren. People still dream of that fairy-tale retirement dream despite the fact that it has been debunked time and again over the last fifty years. The statistics show a more sombre future for today’s working class. More UK's pensioners will need debt relief services or IVAs. Instead of retiring to a comfortable home they will be fighting to keep the heat on for the entire winter. A report by Key Retirement Solutions states that one in four people over 60 still hold a substantial mortgage debt. The average person retires still owing £31,000.
